Jesus became very popular. People came to see Him from all over for all kinds of reasons. Some are.

The People could have been following him because:

They wanted:

to get healing,

to be cured,

to be gifted again with new life,

to get blessings,

to see a sign to believe,

to become his disciples,

to get to know him and his purpose on this Earth,

TO BELIEVE.

How did Jesus behave in sharp contrast to how religious leaders acted?

He behaved like a true God. The one and only, who doesnt care who is poor or who is rich, but all who believes. As he said he didnt come to call the righteous, because they alreay are with him, but the one's who sins and who havent gotten a chance to know him, so that in time they may become righteous as well.
