What made Peter so afraid to be identified with Jesus? Why are many people today still afraid to identify with Jesus?

The word death and the meaning of it simply means one thing- death (the end of this life and a new beginning as well). But to many death is painful in their minds. To be ridiculed isnt a nice thing either. To have others forsake you, and throw stones and curses at you is also not nice. Peter was afraid of all this hence his reason for denying Jesus.

As our modern society has changed, so has its minds, attitudes and beliefs. Many of us say we love Jesus and we are a believer but when asked to pray in front others, we shake and are lost for words. Many of us pray in our rooms, and as soon as someone enters our once clasped hands are scrathing each other. Manu of us are also afraid, just as Peter was. No we are not ashamed of Jesus, we just dont know what the outcome would be, if someone else knew just how we feel or believe in.

I say we, because sometimes we are all guilty of this. I was, i used the same examples i once used. Until my eyes were open, to the truth. The truth being Jesus wants us to demonstrate his love true us to others for their understanding as well. Who knows there might also be some one with the same feelings like you, and wants to come out and say something but is also afraid. You could be the help the've just been waiting for.

Our soceity today, may seem to be full of shame, crime, dis belief, and disasters. But when we push (Pray Until Something Happens) everything aside, we can see that there are others who believe, love and trust. And maybe just maybe one day everyone would think the same way (the right way).

Why did not the Father let the cup pass and spare Jesus the pain of the crucifiction?

"My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire."

Jesus knew what he was about to go into, he knew it was going to be painful, and full of grief for many. But God knew it had to happend. Only God is able to count the many blessings we accept and in accordance the many sins we perform on a daily basis.

Do you know how much sin there is in the world? Do you or can you count them all? God alone can. Thats why God sent his faithful son to die for us. Without that imagine where we would all be today. If God had just let the 'cup pass' as Jesus asked, this world would be full of sin and sinners. We would be destruction to everyone and everything. God has plans, and in order for us to be with him soon we are asked by him to fulfill his wishes (plans).

Why do you think Peter was so emphatic and yet so wrong about denying Jesus?

The difference between Peter and Jesus is one of them is God and one of them is God's Creation. God (Jesus) knew what was in Peter's (Gods Creation) mind, heart and soul. God predicted as he presumed. He knows our daily routine, if i may. Because he laid it out for us.

If Peter didnt deny Jesus the three times as stated, he would not have truly believed. This had to take to place for a purpose, so that Peter would see that Jesus was The Son of God indeed.

Peter thought he was deserving of God in every way, he knew in his heart how he felt about God, hence the reason for his emphatic denying about Jesus. But little did he know what he was about to do. There's no doubt he felt bad, and wanted to re-do everything, but it had to take place for him to truly believe.

Who else other than God our Father knows what we are and not to do before we do it. This was Jesus' way of showing Peter who he was and is.
