Why does Jesus call Love One Another a New commandment?
Well, after Jesus came into this world, everything turned on to new, that simple is the answer. New testament, New world, New creation, New covenant...so why not new commandment? When Jesus comes into us, the old goes away and see everything becomes new. We can read this in 2 Corinthians 5: 17. Jesus came to save us from our sins and gave us only two simple commandments, whereas in the Old Testament we find ten. As we all know, the 2 commandments Jesus gave mankind are `You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.` This is the great and foremost commandment. And a second is like it, `You shall love your neighbor as yourself.` On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets. - Matt 22:37. When we read these two commndments and then move on to the old commandments, we see that the first 3 commandments which God gave to mankind, come into the 1st commandment which Jesus gave to mankind. And the next 7 commandments, which God gave to the mankind, come into the 2nd commandment which Jesus gave to the mankind. Jesus condensed the 10 commandments into 2 commandments. Hence a new commandment arose of loving one another. Loving one another includes respecting and loving our parents...; not killing others through our words or actions, not aborting children; not committing adultery...; not stealing others peace, happiness, fame, joy, money, ..etc; not going to the court against others, not hating them, not cursing them, not hurting them...; not coveting neighbour`s wife or any other relation.....; not coveting neighbour`s goods... So let`s understand this new commandment, Jesus has given us and follow it in our lives. Love our brothers and sisters and forgive them.

GOD loved the world so much that he gave his son to die for us. If we can learn to love that much we would overcome alot of our problems its sometimes difficult to even love ourselfs becuase of faults that we have and how more to love your neighbor. Thats why I think that he gave us this new commandment

Why does Jesus call Love One Another a New commandment?
Jesus spoke of a ?new? commandment only once. On the eve of his passion, he said to his disciples, ?I give you a new commandment: love one another; just as I have loved you, you also should love one another? ''John 13:34''. In what way is this commandment new? Is not mutual love required by the previous commandment: ?You shall love your neighbour as yourself? ''Leviticus 19:18''? Jesus offers a new measure for love. He says ?just as I have loved you? at the very moment when, for love, he gives everything. ?Before the Passover celebration, Jesus '','', having loved his own who were in the world, showed them the full extent of his love? ''John 13:1''. He begins by washing their feet while saying, ?I have given you an example? ''verse 15''. Then, deeply troubled by the fact that one of the Twelve, the apostle Judas, is going to betray him, he still keeps on loving him, expressing that love by handing him a piece of bread: ?He took it and gave it to Judas? ''verse 26''. And finally, the gift of an example and the gift of a piece of bread culminate in the gift of the commandment: ?I give you a new commandment.? Just before the new commandment there are some enigmatic words: ?Now the Son of man has been glorified? ''verse 31''. How is Christ glorified before he enters into the glory of his Father by his cross and resurrection? He is already glorified, because his glory is to love. That is why his glory is manifested now, when he ?shows the full extent of his love.? Judas ?went out into the night? to hand him over. But Jesus does not submit passively to the event: while being handed over, he gives himself, continuing to love in a situation that seems hopeless. That is his glory. With the new commandment, Jesus makes his disciples a part of his own way of life; he enables them to love as he loves. That evening he prayed, ?May the love with which you loved me be in them and I in them? ''John 17:26''. Henceforth he will dwell within them as love; he will love in them. With this gift of the new commandment, Jesus bestows his presence. In the Gospels of Matthew and Mark, Judas' exit is immediately followed by the institution of the Eucharist; in John's Gospel, by the gift of the new commandment. Like the Eucharist, the new commandment is a real presence. That night Jesus ?took the cup and said: this cup is the new covenant in my blood? ''1 Corinthians 11:25''. His commandment is new because it belongs to the new covenant, announced by the prophet Jeremiah: ?I will make a new covenant '',''; I will place my Law deep within them and write it on their hearts? ''Jeremiah 31:31-34''. In the new covenant, the former commandment is given in a new way. God's Law is no longer engraved on tablets of stone, but written in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who unites our will to the will of God.

Why does Jesus call Love One Another a New commandment?
i think He calls it a new commandment because looking at all the other ten commandment that were revealed to Moses in Mt. Sinai, they all rotate around love for God and man, so i would say it`s a summary of the ten. And also, it because it is impossible to love what we do not see ''God'' if we cant love what we see and have around us''one another''. thank you.

Why does Jesus call Love One Another a New commandment?
Jesus called this a new Commandement because if we look at the Commandements that were given to us this was not included and so people were not following this commandement because it was not given to them. So Jesus our Lord knew this and that is why he gave this new Commandement to us sothat we can follow it and obey it as we do to the other Commandements

The Shema is a prayer that Jews pray every morning and evening. It includes, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and might. Jesus transformed the Shema prayer to now include And love one another as yourself. That it is why its a new command.

Why does Jesus call Love One Another a New commandment
I believe that when something is new it is cherished, until the novelty wears off, however everytime we read that it is a New commandment, we are reminded of a Newness of love that is never allowed to run dry or never allowed to grow weary, it is always new, as God`s love is always new. We know that when we first fall in love we long to give of ourselves to the other person, in the same way, we are ready to give of ourselves to those who God commands us to love. Love holds no grudges, it is kind and gentle, we are to love one another without compromise, we have to forget past grievances and continue with God`s commandment of love. We are to love those who dishonor us, dispitefully use us, and remember that we need to reflect Christ in us, for the Bible says that if we only love those who love us, of what gain is it to us?. But if we love those who hate us there is a reward. God gave His Son because He loved the world''man'', the same way we cannot keep love it has to be given.

Love
Hello dear friends.I have been trying to read my bible and somehow I have come to understand that we are called children of God b`se of his love. Like the bible says that for he loved us somuch that he gave his only begotten son that however believes him should not perish but have eternal life ''John 3:16''.I have come to understand that it`s love that can take us to heaven.loving one another as you love yourself this is why even the bible tells us that what we want other people to do for us, we should do it for them because for Jesus knew that we love ourselves so much and in that we should give it back to others without descrimination.Love is really too big but the bible emphasizes us to try as much as possible to love one another as the father loves us.
