Jesus still love Peter because He already new what Peter was going to do before he did it, and Jesus new that all this had to be fufill what the prophecy had told of His death and resurrection.

The Love for Simon
I think that Jesus knew that Simon loved him. He was preparing Simon for the work that he had for him to do. Jesus want Simon to take care of the people after he left.

How do you think Peter felt after his discussion with Jesus?
I think Peter was dismayed, confused. Jesus asked him three times if he loved him, and three times sent him to do menial tasks.

How do you think Peter felt after his discussion with Jesus?
I see a mixture of emotions in Peter, the mild irritation at being asked three times if he loved Jesus to being humbled and maybe a little angry when he first thought the disciple to betray Jesus was just going to get away with it.

How do you think Peter felt after his discussion with Jesus?
I think Peter got courage after his discussion with Jesus. Because we learned in this passage that Peter once again committed his life to ther Lord even what manner of death would be such as to honor God. Commitment to follow Jesus is not a once in a lifetime decision only. When we receive Him as Lord and Savior that is only the first step in following Him. We have started in a right direction. New birth is only once. But ther are times when we need to recommit our lives to Him, especially if we have backslidden. Peter was called by our Lord to follow Him, and he try to compare himself with John. Our Lord`s answer shows that it is not our business to ask such question. Each of us is responsible to Him for ourselves only.

Peter must have felt the beauty of Christ`s forgiveness and love and also, it must have been wonderful to be given a second chance to prove his love for Jesus.

Jesus Reinstates Peter

So when they had eaten their breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me more than these?"
He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I have affection for you."
He said to him, "Feed my lambs." He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me?"
He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I have affection for you."
He said to him, "Tend my sheep." He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you have affection for me?"
Peter was grieved because he asked him the third time, "Do you have affection for me?" He said to him, "Lord, you know everything. You know that I have affection for you."
Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep. Most certainly I tell you, when you were young, you dressed yourself, and walked where you wanted to. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you, and carry you where you don't want to go."
Now he said this, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. When he had said this, he said to him, "Follow me."
Then Peter, turning around, saw a disciple following. This was the disciple whom Jesus sincerely loved, the one who had also leaned on Jesus' breast at the supper and asked, "Lord, who is going to betray You?" Peter seeing him, said to Jesus, "Lord, what about this man?"
Jesus said to him, "If I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you? You follow me." This saying therefore went out among the brothers, that this disciple wouldn't die. Yet Jesus didn't say to him that he wouldn't die, but, "If I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you?" This is the disciple who testifies about these things, and wrote these things. We know that his witness is true. There are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they would all be written, I suppose that even the world itself wouldn't have room for the books that would be written.
