Because the Pharisees first refused repentance of John the Baptist(7:30),
next refused how to repent which was demonstrated by Jesus(11:53-54).Therefore the people who was leaded by them must be ruined if they would not change perfectly their course  opportunely toward God.

in the note it states that there was a tree which does not bear a fruit and it was ask to be cut down.the fruitless of this tree started right from the generation of the tree.and every tree of this problem was cut down.until this bears fruit it will never be cut down.the generation of this tree has been on to this tree.the way other were cut down will be the same it will also be cut down.so one sin can be link to others unless they repent.if your father dies of one sin the sme can also pass on to you

Carrying on the metaphore
In many cases we might have been thrown off the road by careless dangerously driving drivers - some of whom were intentionally mindlessly driving - and some blinded themselves by the devil. Make sure you have a trusted friend on the next seat to keep the devil`s hands at bay.And two extra eyes on the road.

Jesus confirms that certain suffering is not linked to one`s behavior. What does Jesus warn about the suffering (punishment) that is linked to one`s behavior?
See also answer to the healing of the crippled woman. We are fully sinners when we know that we are on the wrong path and do nothing to change the course of our lives after we got the warning from Jesus - a bit like driving on past the high patrol stop palette. We can still stumble but at least we are holding onto Jesus` arm. And if we get to our weakest we can plead to be lifted up on his shoulders. The three conditions for a sin to be mortal come to mind - knowingly doing something evil ''the graver the worse''.

Repent or Perish

Now there were some present at the same time who told him about the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered them, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, no, but, unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way. Or those eighteen, on whom the tower in Siloam fell, and killed them; do you think that they were worse offenders than all the men who dwell in Jerusalem? I tell you, no, but, unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way."
He spoke this parable. "A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it, and found none. He said to the vine dresser, 'Behold, these three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and found none. Cut it down. Why does it waste the soil?' He answered, 'Lord, leave it alone this year also, until I dig around it, and fertilize it. If it bears fruit, fine; but if not, after that, you can cut it down.'"
