Why David`s son?
Is it the promise of the multitude of spiritual children? but wasn`t Abraham to whom God said your children will be as numerous as the stars? at the beginning of one of the Gospels we have the precise reference to the whole geneaology. So why David? the Psalms come to mind - Psalm 23 - and the asking of forgiveness of David for the committed by him sin of adultery. The whole Psalms are a crucifixion of the soul. With a joyous ending that pervades them all too in his longing for and glorifying God whom he sees in the whole universe. Does he anticipate Jesus in that? or better as Jesus was sinless he is all of us in potential - provided we walk in Jesus footsteps accepting our crosses and in our cases aknowledging our sins - like David - and humbly seeking for the Father`s forgivness which keeps SHINING throughout the Psalms a model for the contrition of the soul. And like him keeping our eyse open to take in the glimpsing everywhere Love of the Father.

Whose Son Is the Christ?

He said to them, "Why do they say that the Christ is David's son? David himself says in the book of Psalms,
'The Lord said to my Lord,
"Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet."'
"David therefore calls him Lord, so how is he his son?"
In the hearing of all the people, he said to his disciples, "Beware of the scribes, who like to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts; who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these will receive greater condemnation."
