Why did not the Father let the cup pass and spare Jesus the pain of the crucifiction?
When God sent His only begotten Son to earth, it was for the sole purpose that He was to be given for the forgiveness of our sins. Had God let the cup pass, then He would have been reneging on His promise to us and God is a faithful God who never goes back on His word. Jesus had to drink of the cup for the scriptures to be fulfilled.

Why did not the Father let the cup pass and spare Jesus the pain of the crucifiction?
IT WAS NOT GOD`S WILL. DOESNT THIS MAKE ALL OF OUR PROBLEMS SEEM INSIGNIFICANT. IF THE FATHER LET`S HIS OWN SON DRINK THE CUP EVEN THOUG THE SON ASKED AND BEGGED HIM ON HIS FACE TO REMOVE IT, BUT HE DIDNT IT REMAINED. WHEN I FULLY UNDERSTOOD THIS IT MADE ME SEE MY PRBLMS LIKE NOTHING COMPARABLE. WHAT AN EXAMPLE WE HAVE IN JESUS CHRIST LORD OF LORDS KING OF KINGS. EVEN IN THAT HOUR WE CAN SEE THAT JESUS WAS ONLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE WILL OF HIS FATHER, ONLY THAT WAS IMPORTANT TO HIM. ANOTHER THING IS THE GREEK WORD FOR IF IS SINCE. JESUS WAS`NT DOUBTING GOD`S ABILITY TO CHANGE THINGS .SO WHEN HE WAS PRAYING THAT IF IT IS POSSIBLE.... HE WAS ACCTUALY SAYING SINCE IT IS POSSIBLE..... CONFIDENT IN HIS PRAYER TO GOD ALL MIGHTY WHO CAN DO ALL THINGS. HE KNEW THAT IF IT WAS GODS WILL HE COULD REMOVE IT. ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE FOR HIM . AMEN

The Father knew that it is the way he needed the salvation to come to the people by using his son as the passover lamb.

Why did not the Father let the cup pass and spare Jesus the pain of the crucifiction?
Hello dear friends, the father couldn`t let it happen because Jesus came on the puporse and that it had to be fulfulled by him going on the cross .Therefore it was it God`s plan that Jesus goes on the cross and dies and after comes back with the key for both death and life.B`se remember all the prophets who had ever lived, no boday could buy the tender that Jesus bought by him going on the cross. There it had been intended by the father that Jesus comes on the cross to fulfill the mission.

Jesus could not be spared, because the Salvation of mankind depended on his sacrifice on the cross. It was God`s will and desire to see his Son, go through the great suffering, so that mankind could be saved.

Gethsemane

Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to his disciples, "Sit here, while I go there and pray." He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and severely troubled. Then he said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch with me."
He went forward a little, fell on his face, and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire."
He came to the disciples, and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "What, couldn't you watch with me for one hour? Watch and pray, that you don't enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
Again, a second time he went away, and prayed, saying, "My Father, if this cup can't pass away from me unless I drink it, your desire be done." He came again and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. He left them again, went away, and prayed a third time, saying the same words. Then he came to his disciples, and said to them, "Sleep on now, and take your rest. Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Arise, let's be going. Behold, he who betrays me is at hand."
