Did Jesus condemn stealing?

The New Testament Bible reveals that Jesus condemned stealing inasmuch as He condemned all sin. However; Jesus showed in His teaching that what a man thinks makes Him a sinner – not just what He does. Jesus condemned sin but loved the sinner. He died for the sins of mankind.

Read this story to see what happened to Zacchaeus, the tax collector who stole from -- as seen in the Gospels in the New Testament Bible.

When Jesus was dying on the cross, He also forgave the thief on one of the crosses next time Him. He did this because the thief recognized his own sin, and recognized that Jesus was without sin. Read that story here.

Did Jesus condemn sin?

Jesus condemned sin but He did not condemn the sinner. He did not condone sin. Sin separates man from God. It is because of mankind being separated from God by sin that Jesus died on the cross. He paid for the sins of mankind by His death on the cross of Calvary.

In the Gospel of John, in the New Testament, we read the story an the adulterous woman who was caught in her sin – specifically, caught in adultery. Jesus did not condone her sinful act. But He did forgive it. The law condemned her sin and therefore people condemned her. But Jesus, did not condemn her, as we see in this verse in the Bible:

"And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn you: go, and sin no more" (John 8:2-11 NKJV).

The New Testament Bible shows that Jesus died on the cross for the sins of mankind, so that sin could be forgiven. Without the shedding of His blood, mankind would be perpetually condemned for his sinful acts. Because of Jesus death on the cross, those who choose to make Him their savior can be free from the condemnation of sin.

Did Jesus condone sin as a human being?

Jesus never condoned sin. Jesus does not approve or sin. He died for the sins of mankind. If sin could have been condoned, He wouldn’t have died. The New Testament Bible teaches that the wages (salary, payment) for sin is death. It cannot be condoned but, rather, a price must be paid in death to nullify mankind’s sin. Jesus paid that price with His own death.

However, Jesus did not condemn those who sinned. He offered them grace and freedom from sin by dying on the cross for the sins of the world. His redeeming blood paid the price for sin.

The first chapter of the Gospel of John in the New Testament shows that Jesus came into the world to reveal the darkness of mankind – to shed His light on the sinful state of man. Sin cannot be hidden from God. He condemns sin but He does not condemn the sinner who turns to Him to receive His forgiveness.

When the adulterous woman was caught in her sin, Jesus did not condone her act. He forgave her sin but asked her to sin no more: "And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn you: go, and sin no more." (John 8:2-11 NKJV).

Did Jesus forbid war?

According to the New Testament Bible, Jesus neither forbad nor condoned war.

Jesus came to free man from sin. War is caused by sin. Jesus came to reveal sin so that men could be saved and live in harmony. But Jesus also claimed that His radical sayings would bring division among men because some would not believe them. He came to bring peace within, knowing that on this earth there would be trouble without.

Did Jesus encourage free love?

Jesus did not encourage free love. On the contrary, He discouraged and did not condone it.

According to the sayings of Jesus found in the New Testament Bible, with regard to sexual behavior, Jesus encouraged marriage and did not endorse people living together without the commitment of legal marriage.

Jesus always encouraged commitment and responsibility in relations – which supports the idea of marriage and fidelity.

How often did Jesus pray?

The New Testament Bible does not record precisely how many times Jesus prayed but in a sense He prayed all the time. He prayed every day. He probably prayed every moment within His heart since He chose to remain dependant on the Father.

In the New Testament Gospels, we see Jesus praying often – day and night, and sometimes all through the night. He would pray everywhere He went. He spoke to His Father in prayer about everything. He was obedient to His Father and heard His Father’s will by seeking Him in prayer.

Did Jesus teach others to pray?

Yes, Jesus taught others to pray. In the New Testament.

Click here to see Jesus teaching others to pray.

And also here.

Here is a prayer Jesus taught His disciples recorded in the Gospels in the New Testament:

He said to them, "When you pray, say,

'Our Father in heaven,

may your name be kept holy.

May your Kingdom come.

May your will be done on Earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us day by day our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins.

for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.

Bring us not into temptation,

but deliver us from the evil one.'"

And here is more that Jesus taught His disciples on prayer:

He said to them, "Which of you, if you go to a friend at midnight, and tell him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him,' and he from within will answer and say, 'Don't bother me. The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I can't get up and give it to you'? I tell you, although he will not rise and give it to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence, he will get up and give him as many as he needs.

"I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.

"Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he won't give him a snake instead of a fish, will he? Or if he asks for an egg, he won't give him a scorpion, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?" (Luke 11:1-13).

What is faith?
Faith is the faculty or vehicle we use in order to believe what we cannot see or understand. When we believe in something that is not tangible to our senses, we are using faith.

People believe many things by faith. But faith cannot save anyone. Only Christ can save. Faith is simply the gift given by God to allow us to believe in Jesus. This gift is given to all who want it, to all who choose to believe.
