What made Peter so afraid to be identified with Jesus? Why are many people today still afraid to identify with Jesus?
Peter was so afraid because he didn`t want what befell Jesus to befall him.The thought of a dying Master was more than he could imagine, since he had seen Jesus work with might and power-if such a powerful Jesus was here being so maltreated, Peter couldn`t face such-He feared for his life. Many people today are still afraid to identify with Jesus because when one is a follower of Jesus, people have great expectations, and many of us are usually afraid of failing to live upto expectations. Again, people are afraid to identify with christ so that you can fit with the crowd, and also so that when you are `caught` you will be sympathized with, because you are just like them-one of them-when you are one of the rest, there is acceptance, but when you are different, there is isolation. In this case, we want to be like the rest, regardless of who we are, and what we know, and when we join in the crowds, like Peter, we deny and betray Jesus.

What made Peter so afraid to be identified with Jesus? Why are many people today still afraid to identify with Jesus?
I believe he was afraid of the people`s anger...hatred...and he didn`t want to be hurt. I think being afraid of other people`s reactions maybe sometimes make people today also afraid to identify with Jesus...which is wrong...shouldn`t care what others think...Jesus is more important...

What made Peter so afraid to be identified with Jesus? Why are many people today still afraid to identify with Jesus?
Perhaps because he was afraid of being ridiculed or being sentenced to die for being a disciple of Jesus. Many of us today are still afraid to identify with Jesus because we are afraid of being made fun of by the people around us; namely the non-believers. It is to be expected because we all live in a sinful world.

What made Peter so afraid to be identified with Jesus? Why are many people today still afraid to identify with Jesus?
As for Peter, his woes started in the garden at gethsemane, where he had a personal vendatta with Jesus. Jesus reminded him of the scriptures thus- the shepherd would be attacked, and the sheep of the flock would be scattered. Peter asserted himself that it would not be possible for him to deny or abandon Jesus, even if it were to the point of death. Personally, I think that Peter was now faced with espionage strategy: ie, to follow Jesus - up to the end - death. To be a spy, one need not be discovered or identified humanly. So Peter was simply consealing his identities, inorder to accomplish his mission. Alas, he didn`t know this would ammount to denial of the Lordship of Jesus. True, many of us christians still switch off faith, and try to accomplish our targets in carnal manners, incase we might be marginalised by the world. eg, a jobseeker may conseal her jesus if she is seeking employment as a bar maid.

What made Peter so afraid to be identified with Jesus? Why are many people today still afraid to identify with Jesus?
Hello dear friends, What made Peter so afraid was he had no holyspirit then perhaps he would have the boldness and you see Peter never knew that it go this far according to the way they had moved with Jesus and according to the miracles Jesus had performed, Peter knew that may be he would call the power of God defend himself from being killed. But here come Jesus dead with no hope for Peter wether he what he had told them truly will come to pass of resuracting on the third day, so surely Peter was in terror of his master being killed with out any sign shown to overcome these enemies. So Peter thought that he too was going to be killed if the master has not been able to save himself when these guys killed him what of me Peter. The reason why some people afraid of Jesus today is simply they are lacking the holyspirit . You see before you get the holyspirit you will leave in fear or terror and most christians today they cann`t speak it out that they gave their lives to Jesus simply b`se of fear and it`s what the devil uses for so many people out there to denie Jesus and go ahead and sin.

What made Peter so afraid to be identified with Jesus? Why are many people today still afraid to identify with Jesus?
Peter was afraid to be identified with Jesus because he was not yet filled with Holy Spirit which will give him power. This is the reason why many people still afraid to identify Jesus. We need to be fill with HIS Spirit all the time, we cannot see Jssus now but can only fill him in spirit. When His spirit lives in us we have strength.

Peter was afraid that he to would be killed. He loved Jesus but he didn`t want to be killed. People today are afraid to identify themselves with Jesus because they are scared what people may say. They wait on you to make mistakes so they can rub it in your face. They don`t know, just because we are saved we are not perfect so everyone will be quick to judge you.

Peter Disowns Jesus

Now Peter was sitting outside in the court, and a maid came to him, saying, "You were also with Jesus, the Galilean!"
But he denied it before them all, saying, "I don't know what you are talking about."
When he had gone out onto the porch, someone else saw him, and said to those who were there, "This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth."
Again he denied it with an oath, "I don't know the man."
After a little while those who stood by came and said to Peter, "Surely you are also one of them, for your speech makes you known."
Then he began to curse and to swear, "I don't know the man!"
Immediately the rooster crowed. Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said to him, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." He went out and wept bitterly.
