耶稣对他说，你要尽心，尽性，尽意，爱主你的神。 这是诫命中的第一，且是最大的。 其次也相仿，就是要爱人如己。 这两条诫命，是律法和先知一切道理的总纲。 ( 马太 22:37-40) 我赐给你们一条新命令，乃是叫你们彼此相爱。我怎样爱你们，你们也要怎样相爱。 你们若有彼此相爱的心，众人因此就认出你们是我的门徒了。 ( 约翰 13:34-35) 所以无论何事，你们愿意人怎样待你们，你们也要怎样待人。因为这就是律法和先知的道理。 ( 马太 7:12) 你们倒要爱仇敌，也要善待他们，并要借给人不指望偿还。你们的赏赐就必大了，你们也必作至高者的儿子。因为他恩待那忘恩的和作恶的。 ( 路加 6:35) 只是在你们中间，不是这样。你们中间，谁愿为大，就必作你们的用人。 在你们中间，谁愿为首，就必作众人的仆人。 因为人子来，并不是要受人的服事，乃是要服事人，并且要舍命，作多人的赎价。 ( 马可 10:43-45) 我是你们的主，你们的夫子，尚且洗你们的脚，你们也当彼此洗脚。 我给你们作了榜样，叫你们照着我向你们所作的去作。 ( 约翰 13:14-15)
