Deuteronomy 25:2,3 - Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee.

Matthew 27:26 - Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

Acts 22:25 - And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?
